Wilmot Cancer Center Support Group to Host Spring Fling Tasting Expo

Mar. 25, 2011
Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer (SPOHNC) event features local chefs

The Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer (SPOHNC) group at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center will be hosting a Spring Fling Tasting Expo Thursday, April 7. The event will run from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, in the Wilmot Cancer Center large conference room.

The Spring Fling Tasting Expo will feature dishes prepared by chefs from a variety of Rochester area restaurants. The dishes are prepared especially to meet the nutritional needs of head and neck cancer patients who may struggle with issues of dry mouth, difficulty swallowing and loss of taste, which can at times be a residual effect of radiation therapy and surgical interventions for those types of cancer. Mr. Richard Bell, a throat cancer survivor who will be honored as the Inspiration Award recipient at the Wilmot Cancer Center’s annual Discovery Ball on May 21, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The event will also help mark the five-year anniversary of SPOHNC-Rochester.

Dishes scheduled to be offered at the Tasting Expo range from entrees such as Chicken French, to decadent desserts.
