People with diabetes can get a free foot health screening from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Strong Wound Healing Center on Sawgrass Drive in Rochester.
Twenty-five percent of people with diabetes experience a diabetic foot ulcer in their lifetime, and 1 in 5 will require an amputation. Early detection and intervention can help reduce the possibility of limb loss.
In addition to having their feet examined, participants will learn about proper foot care and footwear and will get nutritional information to help manage their diabetes.
No appointment is needed and the first 25 participants will receive a foot-care gift bag.
The Strong Wound Healing Center is located at 160 Sawgrass Drive, Suite 130, off Westfall Road. For more information, please call (585) 262-9100.
