EIOH Resident Spotlight - Dr. Bedant Chakraborty

Bedant Chakraborty, BDS, PhD, is completing his residency in Dental Public Health. He plans to pursue an academic career, including a great mix of research, teaching, and practice. 

Q. Where are you from?
A. Madhya Pradesh, India

Q. Any presentations at conferences?
A. AADOCR Rochester section Annual Conference 2023: 2 oral presentations, 1 Poster. 

American Public Health Association annual conference 2023 in Atlanta (selected 3 abstracts, presenting in November) 

Q. Best memory of your EIOH residency?
A. Featured in a news channel and advocated vape ban in Monroe County parks at the Monroe County Legislative meeting on March 14, 2023. 

Q. In what way did your EIOH experience allow you to grow professionally?
A. In many ways, from an academic standpoint, we attended classes from many relevant disciplines. From a research standpoint, there were many opportunities at the Department of Community Dentistry. 

Q. In what way did your EIOH experience allow you to grow personally?
A. Personally, it helped me to learn efficient multi-tasking. 

Q. What’s the best advice you ever received?
A. "Be patient and take small but persistent steps towards your goals."

Q. Favorite part of Rochester?
A. The summer the greenery, my friends, and Ontario Beach. 

Q. The one thing you can’t live without?
A. Coffee. Second would be research 

Q. A person who has inspired you?
A. John Snow

Q. The one thing you’ve always wanted to do but never have?
A. Fly a helicopter

Q. If you could change one thing about yourself,  it would be--
A. I would love to go to the gym more often again.
