Tiniest Patients Make Way to New Hospital

Yesterday was a big day for Golisano Children's Hospital! Many of our tiniest patients in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) moved over to the new-and-improved Gosnell Family NICU in the new Golisano Children's Hospital building! 

Volunteers, grateful moms, and faculty and staff gathered together in the current space as the first patient to move was prepped. Everyone wore yellow "NICU Move Day" shirts to celebrate the transition. The first baby, accompanied by her mom, dad and nurse team, was in her new private room by 9 a.m. About 34 babies were moved after her.

Each patient family making the transition received a handmade quilt and a new children's book, welcoming them to their new space. 

"It was certainly an exciting day," said Tim Stevens, M.D., NICU medical director and chief clinical officer of Golisano Children's Hospital. "It was a team effort, with close to 50 people working together to make sure everything ran smoothly. We couldn't be happier to now have patients and families benefiting from the new space."
