Gala transports guests to old Hollywood

Oct. 29, 2015

UR Medicine’s Golisano Children’s Hospital supporters, including grateful parents, donors, hospital faculty and staff, sponsors and more, stepped into a movie scene out of old Hollywood Oct. 24 at the hospital’s 28th annual Gala.

More than 1,100 elegantly dressed children’s hospital advocates walked the red carpet in support of the hospital’s expanding patient- and family-centered care and the incredible new facility now serving sick and injured kids throughout the region and beyond. It was a celebration of the historical opening of the $145 million, eight-story building, as well as a launch of fundraising efforts for Phase II of the project. The event, sponsored by The Cabot Group for the eighth consecutive year, raised close to $650,000 for the Finger Lakes region’s only children’s hospital.

This year’s fund-in-need focused on outfitting the pediatric cardiac operating room of Director of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery George Alfieris, M.D., one piece of Phase II of the children’s hospital construction, a $45 million project.
